Practical Information

Alright, so you’ve decided that this is definitely for you. Welcome, we can’t wait to see you!

So besides the heart of an adventurer, what do you need? You’ve come to the right section.

  • Comfortable walking shoes (trainers of hiking boots, depending on the trail and the weather). We will send you an email in advance to confirm, but as a guide we would always recommend good, sturdy hiking or walking boots.
  • Weather-appropriate clothing (we’ll be outdoors the whole time).
  • A water bottle and light snacks.
  • Any personal essentials (medication, suncream, insect repellent).
  • A notebook (if you are a note-taker at heart!).
  • A sense of adventure and your imagination!

Wild Dungeons is designed to be welcoming for adventurers of all kinds:

  • Beginners welcome – you don’t need any D&D experience to enjoy the journey.
  • Families and kids – younger adventurers (recommended 8+) are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
  • Accessibility – some quests use gentle trails suitable for most walkers, others are more rugged. If you have accessibility needs, let us know and we’ll help you choose the right adventure.
  • Adventures run in most weather (light rain can add atmosphere!).
  • In cases of severe weather (storms, high winds, unsafe conditions) we’ll reschedule or offer a refund.
  • Trails are risk-assessed and safety comes first.
  • Please make sure you’re fit enough for light to moderate walking, depending on the quest you choose.
  • Ideal group size: 3-6 players.
  • Private bookings available for families, friends or groups who want their own quest.
  • Solo adventurers are welcome to join open sessions (we’ll gather a party together).
  • Forest Quest – 2-3 hours (gentle walk).
  • Riverside Adventure – 3-4 hours (moderate trail).
  • Hilltop Saga – 4-5 hours (longer, more rugged walk).

Each includes walking, roleplay, battles and breaks for snacks/rest.

  • All dice (although you are welcome to bring your own!), character sheets, dice tray and miniatures.
  • An experience Dungeon Master (that’s me!) to guide the story.
  • A fully prepared adventure tailored to the setting.
  • Extra props to bring the story to life.
  • Food and drink.
  • Transport to the starting location.
  • Specialist outdoor gear (you’ll have to bring your own shoes/clothing).

Do I need to know how to play D&D?

Not at all! Everything will be explained – complete beginners are welcome.

Can kids join?

Yes – children 8+ can join with an adult.

What if the weather is awful?

We only cancel if conditions are unsafe. Otherwise, pack a waterproof – sometimes a little rain makes the quest feel even more epic!

How hard are the walks?

Forest Quests are gentle and family-friendly. Riverside Adventures are moderate. Hilltop Sagas are more challenging and best suited for adults or teens comfortable with longer hikes.

Can I book a private session?

Yes – get in touch to arrange a private quest for your group.
